Headteacher's Welcome I hope you all had a lovely break over half term and were able to spend some quality time with your families. The children have come back to school well rested and ready for learning, which is great - we even saw the sunshine in the playground a few times which has been lovely! Its a short but busy term so please make sure you check the calendar for all the key dates. Next Week is World Book Day - Dress up as a Book Character! Children are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character and may bring their favourite book in. The children will be doing a range of Book themed activities throughout the day, ending with stories and hot chocolate. |

Preschool Open Morning - Sat 14th Mar 10am-12pm Please share the date with anyone you know who has a child age 0-3. We are now taking applications for next school year - September 2026, January & April 2027. |

We hope you all had a lovely half term and enjoyed lots of pancakes!
Speaking of pancakes, the final sponsorship total for the Sponsored Pancake Toss is in and we raised nearly £2,500 which is absolutely incredible! This will be split 50/50 between the NGIS PTA and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Pride of Yorkshire campaign. We’re looking forward to the school receiving their lion cub sculpture for decorating ahead of going on display in the public art trail. Please pass on our thanks to all those that so generously sponsored the children and well done to them for their fabulous flipping, it sounded like they all had a great time for a great cause!!
A change of plans! The World Book Day cake and book sale has been rescheduled from Thurs 5th Mar to Fri 6th Mar as there is just so much going on in school on World Book Day! Donations of books as well as cakes, buns and biscuits (home baked or bought) would be gratefully received. Please remember we are a nut free school and any home baked buns should include the ingredients list. We’ll send a reminder via WhatsApp nearer the time.
Before the Easter holiday, we’ll be creating Easter Rainbow Hampers to be raffled and won! We would be grateful for donations of gift items of certain colours, allocated by year group, to be included in the hampers. The colours are as follows:
Pre-School Pink and Purple Reception Red and Orange Year 1 Yellow and Gold Year 2 Blue and Green
So if you have any unwanted gifts (food gifts, candles, bottles (wine or non-alcoholic drinks), beauty products, etc.) in your child’s year group colours that you would be happy to donate, please bring these to the School Office. Raffle tickets will be sent home in book bags shortly. The raffle will be drawn by Mrs Hawkins on the last day of term (Fri 27th Mar) at the Easter Bonnet Parade.
Finally, our next PTA meeting is on Tues 10th Mar, 19:45 at The Florentine. Everyone welcome! If you’re not on the PTA WhatsApp group and could help with any of the events, please do get in touch via email - nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com. Please join us! |

Holi: The Festival of Colours We are excited to announce that on Wed, 4th Mar, we will be learning about how the Hindu festival of Holi is celebrated. Holi is a joyful ancient tradition that marks the arrival of spring, the end of winter, and the blossoming of love. Often called the "Festival of Colours," it is a time when families and friends come together to laugh, play, and celebrate the triumph of good over evil.
What do Hindu’s Celebrate during Holi?
On the 4th of March we would love for all children to dress in a bright t-shirt to capture the spirit of the festival. On the day we will also learn an Indian dance and create bright pieces of artwork.
