Headteacher's Welcome

We have had a great week in school again this week. The Reception children seem very settled and it is amazing to see how much progress they have made already!

Our Year 1 Outdoor Area is nearly finished and the children are beginning to be able to enjoy this fabulous space. Thanks so much to our fabulous PTA for funding this super area. It is so wonderful to be able to offer more outdoor opportunities for our children to be able to play, communicate and problem solve with their friends.

  • Clubs are booked on a first come, first served basis - please talk to your child about which clubs they may like to do in advance of booking as refunds will not be given.
  • If you miss out on a club, please contact the office via email, and you will be put on the waiting list for next half term
  • Choir will be learning songs for their Christmas Concert.
  • There are no clubs running on Tues 4th or Thurs 6th Nov (Parents Evening) or Fri 28th No (PTA Christmas Fair)
  • Click here for more information on each club - please read this before booking
  • Please bear in mind that whilst the clubs are really fun and engaging,  for some children they may find listening and following instructions in a more informal setting after a full day at school too much.

Thanks: Cake Sale

Thank you to you and your families for supporting the cake sale today. We hope the children enjoyed their sweet treats! We’ll let you know whether we beat last year’s October cake sale total of £170 raised in the next Weekly News Page!!

Reminder: Dress As You Please – Wed 22nd Oct

On the last day of school before half term, children are invited to dress as they please! Please pop £1 in their book bag if they take part.

Reminder: Christmas Fair – Fri 28th Nov, 3.20-4.30 pm

Thanks to those that have already volunteered to support this event and have made kind donations. The box for any more donations is clearly marked and just inside at reception (out of the rain!). If you have a half term clear out planned, there’s still plenty of time to make donations of any unwanted gifts in new or like new condition so that the children can purchase gifts for their loved ones at the Elfridges store! We would also be very grateful for any outgrown school uniform and Christmas clothing (jumpers, pyjamas, etc.).

NEW: Christmas Cards

We realise it’s early to be thinking about Christmas, but if you’re looking for a way to support the school and make a start on your Christmas shopping, this is the perfect opportunity! Just before half term, your child will bring home a template on which they can design a special picture ready for Christmas. This can then be printed on to Christmas cards, mugs and a whole range of other products via Xmas4Schools. More info to follow!

Reminder: Christmas Movie Night – Fri 5th Dec, 5-6.30 pm

It’s popcorn and pyjamas time for Christmas movie night! This year we will be showing the appropriately festive Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. Further information will be shared shortly but so that you can plan – drop off will be at 5pm and pick up at 6.30pm.

Reminder: Santa’s Grotto – Mon 15th Dec

We are extremely excited to announce that Father Christmas will be visiting school on Mon 15th Dec! The children will have the opportunity to visit him in his festive grotto in small groups during the normal school day. He will be giving them each a small gift! The cost is £4 per child and will be payable via ParentPay – more info to follow soon!

NEW: Preloved Uniform

If you’re looking for some more school uniform, please check the NGIS Grown Out Of It page.

NEW: Uniform Labels

Did you know that, on average, every child permanently loses 9 items of school kit per year?! Labelling everything makes sure that any lost items make their way back to you. For every name label order made with the School ID: 6582, Tiger Tags will donate £1 to school - a double bonus of preventing you additional expense and fund raising for our lovely school!

This year the PTA will funding the development of the play area at the back of the Kangaroos classroom. This will create a fun, problem-solving area for the children with a sandpit, tyres, pipes, etc. More info on the other ways we’ll be supporting the school to follow in future updates.

Please do support us in any way you can. If you’d like to join the PTA WhatsApp group or support us deliver any of the events, please let us know by contacting us at nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com

Y2 Maths Talk for Parents - Wed 8th Oct

It was good to be able to share more information with parents about how we teach Maths in Year 2. We know not all parents are able to attend in the school day so have uploaded all the information to the Maths webpage.

Contact with Teachers

If you need to contact your child's class teacher you may email them using the class email which is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, koalas@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk etc

Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office.
