Headteacher's Welcome As you will know this week we welcomed Ofsted in to inspect our school. We had a two day inspection which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was immensely proud to share all of the wonderful things that happen in our fabulous school. We received a huge amount of positive feedback from the inspector and the hard work and dedication of our amazing staff team was acknowledged. The inspector visited lessons, talked to children about their experiences in school, looked at their books and talked to governors. The parent survey plays a large part in the process and we were absolutely overwhelmed by the number of parents who took the time to share their feedback. There was an enormous quantity of positive feedback received - thank you; this really means so much to us. During an inspection views are gained quickly from snapshots of what is happening at one point in time - it was amazing to hear that parents, who are with us every day throughout the year (and for many of you who have been for a number of years) are so supportive, invested and incredibly happy about the offer every day for their children. Thank you so much - the comments were supportive, uplifting and heartwarming. We will share our report with you as soon as we receive it (it will probably be in the new year).
The children enjoyed a very well deserved treat on Thursday afternoon...

Exciting news! Groundwork for our sensory wellbeing garden begins this weekend! We’ll share a more visual update on class WhatsApp groups early next week so you can see what’s planned. We’ll keep developing it over time and will be calling for help from any green-fingered parent friends to help us with planting but we’re hopeful that it’ll be ready for the children to start enjoying from the Spring! Next week we’ll be serving refreshments ahead of the Y1 nativity on Weds and Thurs mornings so if you fancy warming up with a tea, coffee, hot chocolate or mince pie, please being cash. And a reminder too that Santa is coming to NGIS in the last week of term. There’s still time for payment and permissions via ParentPay if you’re happy for your child to meet him and get a small gift. And finally, another little reminder of the other easy ways you can help:

The Big Ambition - Survey
Deadline extended to 19th January 2024
We have been contacted by the Children's Commissioner for England Dame Rachel De Souza and asked to share this survey with parents.
Message from the commisioner...
'I want to ensure that the voices of all children in the Yorkshire and the Humber area are fairly represented in the findings so that I can share their views with the most senior members of the country. I must reiterate that it is vital that all children have their voice heard through this survey because, as Children’s Commissioner for England, I have a statutory duty to protect and promote the views and interests of children. The Big Ambition provides a much-needed opportunity for the children of England to tell political decision makers what is important to them ahead of the General Election. I will be sharing their responses with Government to ensure that children’s voices are heard.'

Notes from the Teachers Learning this half term...
Foundation Stage The topic for this half term in Reception will be Celebrations: Reception Overview - Celebrations The Weekly Newsletter is available on the school website by following this link: Reception Weekly Newsletter Messages for Teachers We know for parents there can be quick questions you want to ask teachers, or things you want to mention and that once children get into Year 1 & 2 there are fewer opportunities to do this. We are happy for you to email class teachers but know that sometimes a quick face to face conversation can be easier - teachers are more than happy to have a quick chat once they have handed children over safely to parents at the end of the school day. The class email is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, etc |
