Headteacher's Welcome It has been a fabulous week in school this week. The Year 1 children have excelled themselves sharing their amazing talents with us all in their Year 1 Nativity Performance. I was incredibly proud of all of them. They showed such confidence singing, dancing and saying their lines so clearly - well done Year 1; you were AMAZING!!! It was so lovely that so many of our parents and carers were able to join us for this fantastic event. We raised £99.57 for the NSPCC too as well as all the donations for the PTA for the refreshments.
The Reception children also had an exciting week with a visit to Fulwood Church where they learnt more about the Christmas story and how Christians celebrate Christmas - they enjoyed singing songs, doing crafts and most importantly having a hot chocolate! Thank you too for supporting our Christmas Jumper Day! The children all looked fabulous in their festive outfits and accessories! Thanks for the charity donations too. Christmas Singing Next Week Parents and carers are invited to join us for Christmas Singing in the playground next Friday 22nd December at 2:00pm - gates will open at 1:45pm and refreshments will be served by the PTA. Parents are welcome to take their children home after the singing. In the event of heavy rain this event will be cancelled and school will finish at the usual time- in this instance we will notify you by email. After School Club finishes at 4:00pm on Friday 22nd December PLEASE REMEMBER THERE ARE NO CLUBS AFTER SCHOOL NEXT WEEK, NO LEXIA & NO MATHS CLUB. |
It's the final week of school and Santa is paying NGIS a visit next Wednesday! He will spend the day in his grotto greeting the children and they'll each walk away with a small gift. It's always such a happy day in school so we don't want anyone who would like to meet him to miss out but at the same time we need to be able to staff and sort presents, so please let us know ASAP if you missed the deadline for permissions and payments.
The PTA will also be serving refreshments at the Choir Concert on Tuesday night and at the singing in the playground next Friday. We're planning to have some end of term treats available to buy for the kids but if anyone would like to bake or donate something, we'd be ever so grateful. Please hand into the office by Friday morning.
Finally, a heads up that you'll be able to recycle your Christmas trees outside the school on Saturday 6th January, 10-2pm. It's £7 a tree and the cost includes a contribution to the PTAs of Nether Green Infants and Nether Green Juniors. Please help spread the word amongst neighbours, family and friends too!
Sensory Well Being Garden
You will have seen that work has started on this exciting project which is being funded by the the PTA. Unfortunately the weather has not been on our side this week - hopefully the work will continue again next week. Take a look at what we are working towards.

The Big Ambition - Survey
Deadline extended to 19th January 2024
We have been contacted by the Children's Commissioner for England Dame Rachel De Souza and asked to share this survey with parents.
Message from the commisioner...
'I want to ensure that the voices of all children in the Yorkshire and the Humber area are fairly represented in the findings so that I can share their views with the most senior members of the country. I must reiterate that it is vital that all children have their voice heard through this survey because, as Children’s Commissioner for England, I have a statutory duty to protect and promote the views and interests of children. The Big Ambition provides a much-needed opportunity for the children of England to tell political decision makers what is important to them ahead of the General Election. I will be sharing their responses with Government to ensure that children’s voices are heard.'

Notes from the Teachers Learning this half term...
Foundation Stage The topic for this half term in Reception will be Celebrations: Reception Overview - Celebrations The Weekly Newsletter is available on the school website by following this link: Reception Weekly Newsletter Messages for Teachers We know for parents there can be quick questions you want to ask teachers, or things you want to mention and that once children get into Year 1 & 2 there are fewer opportunities to do this. We are happy for you to email class teachers but know that sometimes a quick face to face conversation can be easier - teachers are more than happy to have a quick chat once they have handed children over safely to parents at the end of the school day. The class email is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, etc |
