Headteacher's Welcome It has been another super busy week in school with lots of fun and learning going on. I felt very proud to open the doors to prospective parents who were invited to visit school on Thursday evening - there were lots of lovely comments about the school which was great to hear. If you know anyone who is due to start school in September 2024 there is another opportunity to come into school on Tuesday 7th November at 9:30- 10:30am. We had a great morning in school on Tuesday with many of our Reception parents joining us to find out more about how we teach Maths in school and have a go with their child in the classroom.

Wednesday 18th October - DEADLINE for PTA Pumpkin Trail Map
We thought it would be good to organise some half term fun so we've mapped out two pumpkin trails - one for Fulwood & one for Nether Green. Participating families will be emailed both maps and can follow the clues to hunt down the treats from 4-6pm on either Saturday 28th or Sunday 29th October. £3 per child payable by ParentPay by Wednesday 18th October. Good luck! Thursday 19th October - Cake Sale Any donations of cakes, buns, & biscuits can be brought to the office on Wednesday afternoon or at Thursday drop off. Please check bakes are free from nuts and if you've baked them yourself, list the ingredients as we have a number of children with allergies in school. If you’d like your child to buy a cake, please pop 50p in their book bag. Parents can buy any leftover cakes after school from 3pm Thursday 19th October - DEADLINE for Rudolph Christmas Cards & Gifts And finally a little reminder that if you are interested in the Rudolph Christmas Cards and other products, the deadline to return your completed design to school, and make your payment via ParentPay is 3.20pm on Thursday 19th October. Last year we were delighted with the quality of the cards, teddies and mugs. We also raised a considerable amount of money for the school by taking part.

Extra-Curricular Clubs for next half term go live on Monday at 7:00pm.
Please check with your child which clubs they would like to do - refunds will not be given.
The Choir will be starting work on the songs for their Christmas Concert.
Some clubs are now open to Reception children.
Detailed information sheets for each club are available via the Letters page of the school website - please read these before booking your child into a club.

Y2 Applications for Y3 All Y2 children should have brought home a letter last week with information about how to apply for your child's Year 3 place. Online applications must be submitted by 8th December and the deadline for paper applications is 15th January. If your child has an EHCP you should have heard already from the SEND team. Nether Green Junior School will be having an open evening for Y2 children on Tuesday 7th November at 6:00pm. Please see attached letter for further information. Notes from the Teachers Year 2 Maths Talk Next Tuesday morning parents and carers will have the opportunity to come into school and learn a bit more about how we teach Maths in Year 2 and ways you can support your child with their Maths learning at home. The talk will be led by Mrs Coefield our KS1 Maths leader and will take place in the hall at 9:00am.
Messages for Teachers We know for parents there can be quick questions you want to ask teachers, or things you want to mention and that once children get into Year 1 & 2 there are fewer opportunities to do this. We are happy for you to email class teachers but know that sometimes a quick face to face conversation can be easier - teachers are more than happy to have a quick chat once they have handed children over safely to parents at the end of the school day.  We have been talking about Black History Month in school this week. All children have brought home an activity which invites them to research a black figure from history.
It lasts for the whole of October so there is plenty of time to take part.

Dates for the Diary Please see attached the Parent Calendar for this year. Please take a few minutes to take note of dates including INSET and holiday dates, Parents' Evenings, Parent workshops to find out about learning in school and performances. Notes about the calendar: 'Fourth Friday' - every 4th Friday that the children are in school parents will be invited into classrooms from when they open at 8:40am until when the bell rings at 8:55am (we have changed this from 'First Friday' due to diary clashes). Initially this will just be Y1 and Y2 classes whilst the new Reception children settle.
