Headteacher's Welcome The Year 1 and Year 2 children have been learning all about Remembrance Day as part of their learning in history this week. They have talked about the significance of poppies and also had a walk to the Fulwood War Memorial, laying Poppy Pebbles that they had painted. We were also very fortunate to have a live performance of 'The Last Post' in assembly today, performed on the trumpet by one of our parent governors.

As you may be aware, Fulwood and Lodge Moor residents will have received a letter and map through the post from Sheffield City Council in consultation for a proposed 20mph speed limit through most of Fulwood and Lodge Moor. We anticipate that most parents will feel that this is a brilliant change for all sorts of reasons. The safety of our children and families has the greatest importance and as a school we also encourage active travel to school. We see this as a really positive change for the community. However, it has been brought to our attention by a number of parents that the proposed 20mph limit does not include Fulwood Road, Brookhouse Hill or Crimicar Lane which are some of the main routes to school for many of our children, and for those at the Nether Green Juniors. If you would like to respond to this proposal, including the proposed area that is covered, the council are inviting comments by email to the following address: 20mphAreas@sheffield.gov.uk You can see a map of the proposed area that will be covered by the 20mph zone by clicking this link |

Notes from the Teachers Parents' Evening Next Week Teachers are really looking forward to welcoming parents into school next week. Please enter school via the main entrance. Children's books will be in the hall for parents to look at. There are no clubs on Tuesday or Thursday due to school spaces being required for Parent meetings. After School Club will be running as usual and will be based in Turtles Classroom. Teachers will be able to talk to you about how your child has settled into their class and the progress they have made so far. Meetings are scheduled for 10 minutes so if there is anything specific you would like to discuss please email class teachers ahead of the meeting. Learning this half term...
Foundation Stage The topic for this half term in Reception will be Celebrations: Reception Overview - Celebrations The Weekly Newsletter is available on the school website by following this link: Reception Weekly Newsletter Messages for Teachers We know for parents there can be quick questions you want to ask teachers, or things you want to mention and that once children get into Year 1 & 2 there are fewer opportunities to do this. We are happy for you to email class teachers but know that sometimes a quick face to face conversation can be easier - teachers are more than happy to have a quick chat once they have handed children over safely to parents at the end of the school day. The class email is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, etc |
