Headteacher's Welcome

We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day yesterday. The children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters and sharing their favourite books with their friends. They took part in book themed activities in their classrooms; the Y1 & Y2 children also visited other classrooms to listen to stories and make crafts linked to the stories. Children also teamed up for 'buddy reading' where they shared their favourite book with a child in another class. The day ended with a story accompanied by hot chocolate and a biscuit; the children had such a lovely time. Thank you so much for your support with costumes; there were some very creative creations!

The children all looked fabulous - you can see more pictures on our Whole School Gallery.

All children will have brought home a book voucher which can either be exchanged for a special edition World Book Day book at participating bookshops or offer a £1 discount off any full priced book.

Active Travel Fortnight
Resources - Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2024

Starting next Monday, 11th March, it is 'Active Travel Fortnight'. This is when we encourage all children to come to school in an active way; walk, scoot, cycle, jog, skip - whatever gets them moving on their way to school! This is a great way to bring physical activity into your child's daily routine. For those families who live further away from school we encourage you to 'park and stride’ - there is plenty of parking within a short walk from school.

In the past few weeks we have received a number of emails from local residents complaining about the lack of respect shown by some of our parents; this has included blocking driveways, double parking which then causes congestion, parking on double yellow lines at the end of Stumperlowe Park Road which makes it dangerous for cars turning onto the road and, unfortunately, parents being verbally aggressive to residents.

We appreciate everyone is busy but we ask that all parents show respect to everyone in our local community and put the safety of our children first.

Parents' Evening and Changes to Clubs Next Week

Parents' evening appointments will take place for all classes (except Bears) next week on Tuesday and Thursday.

There will be no clubs on Tuesday (NO MUSICAL THEATRE), or Thursday (NO CHOIR, NO FOREST SCHOOL).

There is also NO FABLAB on Wednesday as Steamworks who run the club are booked elsewhere due to Science Week.

After School Club is running as usual - please ensure you book in advance as we are likely to have higher numbers with clubs not running.

For Parents Evening please enter via the main entrance. Books will be out for parents to look at before the meetings so you may want to arrive a little early. Teachers will collect you from the hall. Parents who have booked a SEND review meeting with Mrs Stackhouse do not need to book a parents evening appointment as well. Appointments are for 10 minutes - if you have any pressing questions please email teachers in advance.

We had a successful Second Hand Book Sale yesterday. Thanks to all those who supported this event by contributing used books, setting up the stall and buying books.
PTA Rainbow Raffle:
Letters have been sent out with details alongside raffle tickets in book bags. The prize hampers will definitely be worth a win!
Wed 27th Mar - Easter Egg Hunt:
The kids loved our Woodland Hunt last year so we're creating another that will end with each child getting a small edible treat. Please sign up and pay via ParentPay if you'd like your child to take part.
