KS1 had a special visit from Florence Nightingale. We had lots of fun dressing up and handling artefacts. Florence told us all about her childhood and how she became a nurse. We were fascinated by her stories of how she helped soldiers during the Crimean War. |
In Year Two we have begun learning about the season of Advent. The Year Two children have been looking at the symbols of the Advent Wreath making a wreath from fresh greenery and discussing what they know. |
We have had an AMAZING last week of school, celebrating and learning about Harvest and Autumn. We walked to the local Almshouses to deliver some harvest treats which were kindly donated by the children of Bears and Koalas. We also enjoyed the tennis taster session held in school. |
Bears and Koalas enjoyed a maths workshop, inviting parents into school to take part in a range of maths activities. |

In our music lesson this week we explored 'dynamics'. We practised singing quietly and loudly, making quiet and loud sounds on our bodies and then we played instruments quietly and loudly. Here is Elephants class following a conductor! |
There has been more super art working in Key Stage One. As part of our hot and cold countries topic we have been looking at Aboriginal art and recreating some of the pattern and symbols. |
Penguin class have got off to an excellent start this year showcasing their super art skills when painting and sketching our class animal. |
Elephants have enjoyed drawing leaves this week in art. First we explored different grades of pencils, then we created leaf rubbings and finally we put these skills together to create some wonderful leaf drawings. |
The Turtles have had a great time in the woodland looking for signs of Autumn. We went on a scavenger hunt then collected and sorted Autumn treasures. We used acorns, sticks, conkers, pinecones, feathers and leaves to make funny faces! |
Key Stage One are loving learning all about the Arctic and Antarctic. They have done some fantastic writing, super map work and even made some fabulous clay penguins! |
KS1 have been enjoying working with clay in Art this half term. We have investigated joining techniques, adding texture and pattern. |
Bears and Koalas have really enjoyed learning about the Christmas story. We had a lovely time at Fulwood church. We especially enjoyed the chocolate coin hunt! |
