Headteacher's Welcome

It has been another busy week in school with visitors coming in to help bring learning to life for the children.

Reception had a visit from Mrs Bun and the Gingerbread Man on Tuesday which was a fantastic way to explore the story. The children loved the retelling of the story with props and fun activities to follow and even had a visit from The Gingerbread Man himself!

In KS1 the children are learning about 'Real Life Superheroes' and had a visit from Mr Sanderson who is a firefighter. The children had already thought of lots of interesting questions to ask him and he told them all about his job, the special clothes he has to wear and of course the fire engine!

It has been a busy few weeks back!
Thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas tree collection even with the snow! HUGE thanks to parents Lu and Paul who went out and collected trees and raised an extra £393.06. Special thanks to Mark Oldham for allowing them to borrow his pick up!
Has your little one had a growth spurt over Christmas? Don’t worry we have lots of new items on our Grown Out of it site. Take a look now. Grown Out of It!
If you have any uniform to donate, please hand it into the school office. It all helps. We have raised £139.21 from second-hand online uniform sales this year.
Thank you to everyone who bought tea towels. We raised £415 and Santa’s visit raised £316.
We currently have £2500 in the bank. Mrs Hawkins has asked if funds can be used to spruce up the woodland and sort out the paths that have fallen away over the years.
We cannot do any of this without our volunteers. So if you would like to get involved with the PTA, we would love to have you! Our next meeting is at The Florentine on 28th January at 7:45pm.

We will be in touch soon about events this term.

Date for the diary - Movie Night - Friday 28th February.

Foundation Stage (Reception)  Information

In addition to the half term Parent Overview, there is also a Weekly Newsletter for parents of children in Reception which gives details of specific leaning each week in school and how this can be supported at home.

This can be found each week on the Foundation Stage page of the websiteClick Here.

Contact with Teachers

If you need to contact your child's class teacher you may email them using the class email which is the name of the class as follows e.g. bears@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk, koalas@nethergreen-inf.sheffield.sch.uk etc

Please do not expect an immediate response as teachers are teaching all day and are not expected to reply to emails during evenings and weekends. For a quick chat you can wait at the end of the day. For urgent messages please contact the school office.

Active Homework
With so many cold winter days, the opportunity to be active outdoors is reduced. We wanted to continue to support our children to achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Each week we will be adding an 'Active Homework' idea onto the newsletter.

Animal Movers
Print out the cards or display them on a screen. Take it in turns to choose one of the animals and do the corresponding moves.  Why not play some music to dance to, or design and make some of your own animal mover cards!

NHS Pharmacy First Service

Did you know that the NHS Pharmacy First Service enables children and adults to get convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment where appropriate, for seven common conditions without the potential delay of having to wait for a GP appointment? Accessing the service may mean that we can help children feel better and get back to school as quickly as possible, as well as supporting parents/carers to also get better if they are unwell with one of the conditions covered under the service.

There is no need to make an appointment; parents or carers can pop into their local Boots pharmacy with their child and ask for help under the service.

Support for the following conditions can be accessed under the service, free of charge (unless NHS prescription charges apply):

A summary of the service is available as an animation and more information can also be found at nhs.uk/thinkpharmacyfirst
