Headteacher's Welcome We had a fabulous day in school yesterday celebrating World Book Day! The children enjoyed dressing up and it was great to see such a range of book characters represented and so many imaginative costumes - thank you for all your support with this! The children enjoyed visiting different classrooms to listen to stories and then carried out activities linked to the books. They had a 'Favourite Book Assembly' with a story from our Author of the Half Term, Alan Ahlberg, and also took part in a 'Buddy Reading' session with a buddy from another class; hot chocolate was enjoyed at the end of the day with the final story-time of the day. It really was a lovely day focusing on the joy that books can bring us! You can see more of our book day fun here. |
Polite Reminder - Consent and Payment for Events
Our office team work really hard behind the scenes to ensure that all the lovely things that teachers and the PTA plan for their classes actually happen.
Next week we have fabulous workshops planned for Science Week with Amazelab visiting school. Such events really do add to the richness of your child's whole school experience.
However the office team are finding they are having to chase more and more parents to give consent and book onto events - last week for Movie Night they were inundated with phone calls and emails from parents who had missed the deadline and wanted to book on.
We appreciate that family life is busy and many parents are juggling communications from multiple schools and there's a lot to remember. We never want children to miss out on the exciting things that happen in school, however, we really don't have the capacity to keep phoning individuals who have missed deadlines. Whilst funds are requested as a 'voluntary contribution' we do not have money in the school budget to cover the costs of workshops and trips. However, if you are struggling financially please let us know and we may be able to offer some support. If you are one of the parents who has not yet given consent for next Tuesday's Amazelab Workshop please could you log onto ParentPay ASAP.

Have you got any old scooters, toy prams or pushchairs that you no longer need? Our Butterflies class would love to have more wheeled toys to play with. If you do have any please bring to the school office. Thanks!

We hope the children really enjoyed Movie Night! It looked like they were having a great time! The results of the February half term Sponsored Read will be announced next week. Everyone who participated will get a certificate and there will be a fantastic prize of a £5 book token for the winner in each class! Thanks to those that supported the book and uniform sale this week. We raised £75 for our lovely school! Rainbow Raffle Thanks to those of you who have already made donations for the Rainbow Raffle. We will be collecting donations until 21st March - please see letter for further info about how you can support this event. We’re currently planning an Easter Egg Hunt which will take place on Wednesday 16th April. This is now live to book via ParentPay. After Easter we’ll be turning our attention to planning the annual Summer Fair which will take place on Friday 20th June. Contact us at nethergreeninfantschoolpta@gmail.com.

Active Homework
Active World Book Day - Mr Men Game
Take a look at some Mr Men books (online if you don't have any). Think of the different characters (Mr Slow, Mr Bump, Mr Bounce, Mr Jelly etc). Each player takes it in turns to shout a Mr Men character out and all players have to move in the style of that character (Eg - Mr Bounce - you may jump, hop, leap etc. Any bouncy movement)
